I currently have Cable internet service running through the lines in my house. If I get DirecTV, with they have to install all new cabling or can they still use the current cable wires running through my house? I don't mind if they want to "limit" my Cable internet to just one outlet and use the rest for DirecTV, but I don't want cabling running around my baseboards all over my house? Does anyone know how they would handle this??
Thanks in advance,
Richard

Depends on how the cable was ran and what type of cable it is:
You need a direct connection between dish and receiver, no "taps or splices to other TVs" between the two.
RG-6 coax is the type of wire that is needed for your satellite which may already be there, you will just have to check.
Welcome and give us more information and we will try to help!

Which did you get first? Internet or DirecTv? I know it should work, but won't I have to isolate the Internet onto just one outlet and let the DirecTV flow through the other ones? I'm really itching to get DirecTV, but I don't want to purchase it all and have the installer come and say it's gonna cost me another $500 to rewire everything and I don't want a million wires running around my baseboards.

You can use diplexers. You need 2 of them for each receiver. It funnels both your satellite signal and your internet signal all down one cable. Its best if your cable is RG6. I have used this method many times and it works well and doesn't reduce signal on either one.

That's only part of the solution.
You need to feed both the cable signal and the satellite signals into the multiswitch. There is an input on the multiswitch for OTA/cable and you can feed your cable into that. I don't believe you need a diplexer for each receiver. You just need one diplexer where it feeds to the cable modem. All the rest can run straight from the multiswitch.

True, Raj. I was thinking if he only had 1 or 2 receivers then he could do without the multiswitch and just put a diplexer on each end. It would work either way.
