I see that Paducah in there - so more likely available to subscribers on April 30, 2003 (as per Charlie Chat)

P.S. Charlie Chat came "in handy" for something (at the least) :)

This is good news. It's actually the Paducah DMA, not Cape.

I wonder if WSIU (PBS out of Carbondale, IL) is having trouble getting their signal to the POP?

well - it is not there (yet) anyhow...
TNGTony (i noticed) put it on his list as "rumored"...
But i guess - that is all it is for now then - just a Rumor...

hey, Mods - can we rename the Thread's name (or at least put a word Paducah in it) - if any possible at all now?

To reflect what Ken Seeber said above - about this actually being the Paducah DMA, etc...

[EDIT] - Update: haha - i see it's done ...Thanks a lot (whoever it was).. That was fast! :)

ALL the stations listed (INCLUDING the 1st one) are in this DMA:

hehe - OK

But what is the official Name for this DMA? :)

You don't mind if I am a little partial to Cape Girardeau, do you? After all, it is one of the cities in the Nielsen Media Research listing. Anyone who is really affected by this would probably know where it is anyway.

John - OK

And "NO" - i don't mind :)

John - just wondering - if you don't mind if the Thread name stays as is? If not we can change it back to original state (we can just ask Mods for that - as i did above) - lol :)

Hmm, very interesting. Why would they pass up a city such as Memphis, TN for Paducah? They are in the same spot-beam footprint, so that isn't an excuse. Memphis is a MUCH larger DMA with many more potential subscribers. Seems once again to be stepping over dollars to pick up dimes.

dishrich - what is "CGI" stand for? (in that link - in your above post)

CGI = Cape GIrado

Scott,
hmmmmm - so maybe we should put John's original Thread name back on then?
:)

Or have both names in topic - Paducah, and C GI one ...

It's April 30th today...

As per Charlie Chat, Paducah (etc) locals should be available to Subscribers as of Today...

As of yesterday, the NBC affiliate, WPSD, still hadn't signed on, although a local installer told me they would probably be onboard in a week or two.

Wow, I can't believe I'm seeing "Paducah" mentioned online...my sweet hometown.

Theory why it was chosen-- like many markets, it's very difficult to receive anything OTA outside of McCracken Co (Paducah's county). My sister, who lives on Kentucky Lake, can receive no locals and the only distant network she can get is FOX from Atlanta (where I am coincidentally). This is great news for them!
Thanks for the update.
