Currently i have a phase 3 dish all ports are used by the DVR and 2 standard rec. so i am maxed out.....

Wife told me the other day that she likes D* but, she would love it if we had a second DVR in the bedroom:rolleyes: .......

So, to make her happy ( so the rest of us could be happy:lol: ) i am planing on going out and getting a second R16 DVR and i know i would then need to add a muti-switch to my setup.

My question is......

Being that i do all my installs myself, and i do plan to upgrade to HD at some point ( not for a year or more though) would the WB68 work with the dish i have? i was thinking if it would work to go that route so i won't have to replace the switch when i go HD.

what are all of your thoughts??

Yes, the WB68 should work with the Phase 3 from what I have heard.

Yes, the WB68 works perfectly with 1, 2, and 3-LNB dishes, as well as the Ka/Ku dishes. We've used them many times for that purpose.

thanks... i thought it would but, i just wanted to make sure before i shell out the money....

i am thinking that i will upgrade my dish after i give the new SL3 time to have worked out all the bugs.. then ill upgrade with the new LNB and a slimline dish.:D

Question that i do have is... my SD locals are on the 119 bird, if i upgrade to the new SL3 LNB will i loose my locals?? i though i heard someone say there gonna move SD locals to 99?? any truth to that?

If your SD locals are on 119 you will loose them if you go with the SL3 as it only sees 99/101/103.

I would not worry about "bugs" being worked out either, the SL3 LNBs work just fine right now. They are released which means they are ready to go ;)

SD Locals that are currently on 119 will remain on 119, so you'll want the standard (SL5) LNB, unless you're willing to give up the SD locals. Your HD locals will be on 99 or 103.

It is the few areas that need a second dish pointed at 72.5 whose SD locals are being moved to 99. DirecTV's lease on 72.5 is expiring, and Dish has picked up the transponder space, so DirecTV has to get everything off of that orbital location soon.

So, there is no plan to ever move my locals off 119 to 99? If thats the case, since i have no plans to upgrade to HD i think ill just keep my phase 3 dish.:p :icon_da: :icon_da:

I wouldn't say never, but I would say not in the near future.
