View Full Version : International Customers: Eastern Arc
Dish keeps jerking us Int'l Customers around. First, locals and all the regular channels (USA, HBO, etc) were on 110/119 & and we had to get a second Dish at 61.5 to get our French package. Then, they move our French channels to 118 and have all the HD at 61.5, so we have to get a new Superdish to get the 118 in addition to 110/119 and keep our second dish at 61.5 for the HD, otherwise we would dump it.
Now, Dish is FINALLY adding our HD locals in Jacksonville, FL at 77, which is Eastern Arc! So, now I have to get a new dish setup for 61.5/72/77 and keep a giant Superdish at 118 for our Internationals?!? I am assuming the Eastern Arc dish is also oversized? This is getting ridiculous!
I wish these people at Dish would get their act togther and stop switching packages to different satellites every few years requiring us to shell out more money to keep our programming.

I would guess that you would point your current 500 that is at 61.5 to 118 then replace the superdish with a 1000.4 should be a free upgrade. I would not worry about it until those locals are actually lit.

If you already have a 500+ at 119, 110, and 118, and a wing dish at 61.5, you'll just stay with that.

IF his locals appear on 77° he'll need either 129° or 61.5° for HD that isn't on 110° and 77° for his locals. If he has no SD receivers he might as well pull a 1000.4/.5 for "Eastern Arc" and add in the 118° feed from his 500+ dish.

You're right, i wasn't thinking when I wrote that. Yay lack of sleep. :D I will say it is probably quite a ways off before he'll have to make that switch though.

I know a few people that will need to do that Nov. 19th.
Some people will need 5 slots to get all their subscribed channels until DISH gets everything re-arranged. The problem is, as far as I know, DISH doesn't have a switch (and isn't planning one) that supports 5 slots (I guess it would be called the DPP-54).
Puck, do you know of any plans for something like that?

Can you be more specific? Why would they need 5 locations by the 19th? For what programming and which satellite locations?
As for a 5 satellite switch, no I don't know of one.
Puck,
The customer I know has international channels, HD and SD packages, locals and currently has 119, 110, 118.7, and 129. Our HD locals will be on the 77 degree slot (they are already uplinked) so, he will need to get a dish for 77. He asked me for a solution and I don't have one. I don't think that there is one (right now). Local dealers are not installing 1000.4 in this area and, they say, they won't until next spring.

This customer should only need an Eastern Arc dish to grab 61.5/72/77. Use the existing dish aimed at 110/119/118, however, only the FSS port 118 will feed into the eastern arc dish (aka 1000.4). The lines for 119/110 will no longer be used. That is all he will need. It's a problem if he also would want DISH Latino but I highly doubt that is the case.

Yes, I agree. The problem is that right now you can't get a 1000.4 dish installed in this area (unless you buy it from an internet dealer and put it up yourself).

He should be able to find a local dealer that can get him one and put it in. $$$ makes the world go around. We get customers that order Globecast and we install it for them and we do DISH work also outside of any contracts or promotions. If a customer waves $$$ things get done! :-)
