I received a H21-200 Refurb from DirecTV in replacement of my H20-600 that was recalled (BTW, the access card was cooked in the old one, but still worked.)

I also received a new RC64 Remote with the refurb.

Can't put receiver into RF mode / or can't get remote to function in RF.

Ran through all the menus, entered the 961/Chan Up + 206255 + Select on the remote and it still will not respond to RF signals.

Is there a different remote that initially came with the H21? Does the RC64 need a different 6 digit code to put into the RC64?

The RC64 isn't a RF remote, the RC64R & RC64RB are RF remotes. You can tell a RF remote by the FCC sticker on the back of it.

Did you already return your other remote?

Hmm...that sucks...

Why would they not send me an RF capable remote? My H20-600 came with one.

I kept the old remote too, even though the instruction insert told me to return it too. The CSR told me to keep everything and just send in the box alone.

I don't get this either. The receiver is capable, so a remote that comes with it should be as well. All it causes is confusion when it doesn't work.

I imagine they do not send an RF remote because very few people use the capability and probably fewer people even know what one is:)

Does it also need an external RF antenna or is it internal like on the HR20-700?

I believe it is external, to verify look for the coax connector on the back of the unit. If the connector is not there it is internal.

Are you sure you have an RF capable remote? Is there an FCC type acceptance sticker on the bottom?
