I was upgraded to a 622 by E* this year (my previous receiver was a 921). Since I never subscribed to HD programming I feared that when the 622 arrived I'd be charged the $6 HD enabling fee. They waived the fee (although they never officially contacted me about it) I saw the waiver listed on my account online.

It's my understanding that the waiver is in force as long as I do not change my programming (which I have no intention in doing). What I'd like to do is add an external hard drive. Im wondering if I activate that feature for the one-time $39.95 fee would that trigger the HD enabling fee (since the EHD feature is not currently offered on the non HD DVR's).

Has anyone else in my (waiver) situation active an EHD? Did the waiver continue after the activation?

I can't see how enabling an EHD would change your waiver status; you are not changing programming at all.

Of course all you have to do is ask when you call to enable it. :)

The EHD is totally separate from your programming.

You'd only lose your waived HD fee if you added HD programming and then tried to remove it.
