Hooking up a 508 to a Widescreen Projection TV

I noticed in the Installation/Setup screen on the 508 PVR that you can change the aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9.

I have a new 16:9 projection set and was wondering what benefit will I get from changing from 4:3 to 16:9. I say this because my TV will take a 4:3 signal and show it as 16:9 it you want to stretch it out.

Is the 16:9 option for Dish programs filmed in widescreen?

I've looked in the manual, but it doesn't even mention this feature.

The 16:9 setting on the dish receivers doesn't do anything. At one time I think that they were planning on it being activated if there was anamorphically enhanced television content, but as that hasn't happened, there's nothing for it to do.

The In Focus that I use has a "Native" setting that displays Dish SD programming in it's real resolution so it looks much better on a projector.

The image is smaller so all of the digital artifacts are not so noticeable. Try this setting if your projector has it.
