IMHO, another fine episode.

I like the way they resolved the issue between Mack and Col. Ryan. I was fully expecting the typical Hollywood resolution of Col. Ryan saves Mack by putting a bullet in the bad guys head as he prepares to kill him and Mack spares Col. Ryan because he saved him.

The only element I think we could have done without was Molly's visit to the shrink and the flashback. IMHO, the only thing worse would have been if the shrink would have hypnotized Molly into forgetting she had a daughter.

Fluffy,

I know you probably have seen this but this is how to use a spoiler tag.....

without the spaces

but Ive got to disagree with you on one point, the Molly thing was perfect for this. It did two things, it took the woman out of what was sure to be an action packed episode and it humanized the episode.

I actually thought that was a decent handling too.

Umm.... 11/16/08

I think fluffybear, as original poster, can edit the thread title (??)

I liked the visit to the shrink, and think it was a well - resolved episode. My only complaint again is that D* executes its recordings by time, not by title, which is how we schedule them, and on Sunday night, that means you have to set both the show and the show or news that follows to record, in order to get the football game delay of show.

Last night I did that, but stayed up and watched the show live - which started recording at 10:00, right in the middle of Cold Case.

You can put a huge buffer on the end of the recording in order to make sure you get the show.

Even if it did go by title, it won't make a difference until TMS (Tribune Media Services) updates the guide data in real time. I won't say that isn't ever going to happen, just the odds are very, very, very, very small.

i have added and extra 30 mins padding to this show and have not missed any portions of it yet.

i thougt col ryan was going to stay behind to slow down the enemy. since he is already dead

I added an hour and still missed ending. What gives with that!

Sure glad I don't need to deal with this (almost) on the west coast.

That is odd. I have an hour added in my SL, and I haven't missed an ending yet.

Thanks for the info on how to add spoilers.. Always wondered about that.

The thing I did not like about Molly's storyline was I did not think it was believable. I just do not buy the whole telepathic connection. I just think they could have handled that portion a little more realistic.

That was the point of Molly's asking if it was true or just a way to keep her occupied.

Fully understand. I just think they could have come up with a better storyline.

Tried to go back and correct it but no go..

Maybe if one of the mods read this, they can fix that mistake..

Don't you all remember the episode several seasons ago where one of the unit members was accused of telling their spouse classified intel? (I think it was Brown and Kim?) That shrink lady - the exact same actress and all - was brought in and she ended up proving that the spouses connection was so close and tight that there was some sort of telepathy between them that neither was even aware of.

So this shrink and her theories were already established several seasons ago - so this was not a "jarring side story".

On another note, the shrink said to Molly exactly what I expressed on this site last week after she tried to get to the media: Why would terrorists who use toddlers and mentally retarded people to blow up the enemy care whether Molly cries and humanizes her daughter?

I said more WTF stuff than that, but she expressed it much more succinctly!!

The shrink just wasn't believable to me. I personally don't believe in telepathy or things like this but this is a television show.
Molly was just out of her mind and wanted to do anything including talking to the media to try and get her girl back!
This same woman played a shrink on "Without a Trace"

I too thought this was a good episode

I'm with jody... I thought that the portions with Molly were perfect. Whether there is some telepathic connection or not, what mother, in Molly's situation wouldn't WANT there to be one. It gave Molly a part in the whole ordeal, even though, as the shrink-lady pointed out, the Army had make it's last push and there was nothing she or anyone (besides Jonas) could do about it.... anything she or the Army did or said would just be spin. This story line gave her something to "do" to "help"...

I also like the resolution with Mac & Ryan. I'm not entirely sure, though, that I liked the very end, with Jonas & his daughter in the hospital. She mentions that Col. Ryan saved her life, and how does she repay that. Jonas response is "A life for a life is the only way, but that's a debt between Col. Ryan and me". Why? Wouldn't it be between she and Col Ryan? It just seems an odd departure, to me at least, if he really believes a life for a life is the way to repay those actions.... as a dad, I understand the thought process, but Jonas to me, has always been one who would have expected a soldier to repay that debt - even if it was his own daughter.....

All in all, another good episode. I could certainly do with less of the wives, and I assume once this story line plays out, if the show is still breathing, we'll go back to the wives living their lives on the base and the men going off with their uber-accurate guns to kill the bad guys.
