So did mine and many other Dishplayers. Looks like the 3am download blew up many Dishplayers with and without modifications.
So...if your dishplayer is constantly rebooting itself and you can't do anything about it, there is an easy fix.
Unplug the unit for at least 5 seconds. then plug it back in. (30 seconds is better...but whatever.
After you plug it back in, wait for the green light to stop flashing.
Then on your remote control press "OPTION"-7-2-2-5-0-0-0
You will know the receiver got the info when you see all the lights on the Dishplayer "dance".
Turn the unit on. Press home and wait for the 44 hour guide to load.
Enjoy TV again.
I did not lose any recordings or events.

Yup one of mine died and the second was fine. Weird.
This was the method I used this morning when I first noticed the problem and it worked fine. I was not aware it happened to anyone else. :)
Got me too.
I was luck enough to have the code list so I could download the guide.
I wonder what tomorrow willl bring....

yikes how dumb can I be!!!! I have to try that fix. My blew up also. I called tech support and was on the phone with some gal for over an hour. She had me unhook the Sat in. Then plug the unit in. go thru all the setup screens just for it to start turning itself off and on again. Sounded to me like it was trying to phone home everytime it booted back up. In the end after several attempts she gave up and said I would have to wait for the next 3am download and see what happens. I think I will try this first. All she had me try was the 32768 option code.
Some of DISH's CSRs and techs are completely clueless on the current DishPlayer problem. A tech superviser I talked to said that "the problem will correct itself during the next 3 AM download." I asked him how the problem is going to correct itself when the DishPlayer keeps re-booting? All he could say is that he didn't know, but, that is what the engineering department is telling the tech department to say.
I did get my DishPlayer working again (no thanks to DISH's "techs").
Does DISH really expect its DishPlayer customers to put up with this inferior service? I, for one, am getting totally feed up.

In fairness while some DPS"blew up" others have a corrupted guide. It is posdsible that thtis is the problem that the techies think will be fixed with tonight's guide download.

I want to know how some Dishplayers are going to get the download if their systems keep rebooting every 30 seconds.
Man I was expecting problems on the Dishplayers because of the time change, I wasn't expecting those problems a few weeks later. :D

I just hope this does not happen to the 501, 508, or 721.

Nope at the moment the Dishplayer is the only one with the 3am download which includes the guide, however soon the Dishplayer will use the same guide that the 508/721 uses.
I noticed yesterday that both of my DP's had about half the gude showing "No Information". This was on bith a standard 7200 and an upgraded to 45 gig 7200. I did the old 7225000 and bith were fine and have been fine since.
ADD M3 2 TH3 L15T!
Seriously, I had a DP blowup the other day, as well. :D Unplugging didn't fix it for me, I pulled the smart card instead.

3rd day in a row I have to get the 44 hour guide.

Mine is giving No Information on all the channels except for the Dish Latino channels.

One of my Players had a partially corrupted guide, the other became possessed. It powered itself off and on repeatedly. Could not keep off long enough to do any options or on long enough to check any settings. Called tech support---young fella there was very helpful. Unplugged sat in for one minute. Did 7225000 option WITHOUT plugging sat back in. Hooked sat up, turned on, everything was fine. He said that all dishplayers were affected and if this should happen, follow the same fix.

Mine has the corrupted guide that shows "No Information" for about 99% of the channels.
Given how stupid Dish marketing has been lately, I'm expecting a press release today stating the PTV fee will be reinstated starting July 1st. Nothing like F'ing up every ones DP just before you want to start charging them again.
what concerns me is whether this was just a fluke (bad weekend at Dishnetwork) or a signal that the now three and soon to be four generation old Dishplayer PVR is quickly becoming obsolete. I was hoping it would at least reliably work for one more year, and then I could replace it once the 921 becomes available. The 7225000 code would not restore the information on Saturday, and last night I only got about 48 hours (and not a very complete 48 hours). Disappointing to say the very least.

One of my Dishplayers had the rebooting problem, while the other MERELY had large chuncks of the guide stating that NO INFORMATION was on that channel right now.
I went nuts trying to clear out the rebooting unit. Aftre about an hour of codes, switch checks, and hard power reboots, I finally surrendered and went to E*. Surprise, the CSR knew about the problem, had me unplug the SAT in (that was a new one on me), and we did the 7225000 code. Everything went back to work.
Used the same code on the other Dishplayer and that one fixed itself on the first shot.
Are we having fun yet?

Both of my stock 7200’s had only a very parietal guide Saturday morning. The one I reset using the 7255000 code. It was okay the other I let be for a while then at night it continued to cycle on and off. I called Dish network and had to wait on hold for 10 minutes or so. The CSR was help full, turning it off undoing the sat cable and taking the smart card worked on the third try. Then I had to use the 7255000 code and another 32 something or the other then the 7255000 again finally the unit took the 48 hour guide. The CSR said that most dishplayers blew up because they sent an update that did not work properly. (Image that E* did not test something properly.) He of course blamed Microsoft. He said it would start receiving the 7 day guide with the 3 am download Sunday morning it did not it still has not started receiving the 7 day guide but other than that they are working currently.

My 7200 had the guide problem but not the rebooting situation. I am getting very irritated about the constant problems and re-imposing a monthly fee will be the last straw. But I'm kinda waiting for a 921 right now. I have a 6000 but would love to be able to timeshift HD material along with regular. I've become addicted to PVR features when watching TV but DishPlayer may act like a "patch" for my addiction!

The software to do that is being "held" because of concerns that those that don't have a dish for 110 (or can't receive Transponder 29 from 110) won't get a guide. I have heard that they will have to use the 7225000 code daily to get the 44 hour guide.
It seems to me that the software could be changed so that if the DishPlayer can't get the 9 day EEPG it would default to getting the 44 hour EPG without using a manual code.
Bill, it seems to me that they could have gotten the DP to work alot better than it has through the years if they really cared to. ;)
It is surprising how many people have just a single slot dish. Just this weekend I was playing golf (a great way to see the backs of lots of houses without getting arrested ;) ) and I saw 2 Dish network single slot dishes pointing to what seemed to be 119 (at least it was not 61.5 for sure). E* is going to have to send these people letters and roll a truck to tell these people that their dishes are going to have to be upgraded.
It is more than a little disconcerting to me that they all the sudden realized there was a problem with the whole 9 day guide thing. They should have been converting people months ago. Heck, if we have known about it for 6 or 7 months, surely it has been planned since way before that.

Lee,
I don't think you will find any DishPlayer owner (or ex-owner) that will disagree with that statement.

I don't know exactly what the issues are but I have to agree with that. I did learn in the last hour that the EEPG is STILL planned for the DishPlayers; it has just been delayed.
I was also told that our DishPlayer problem over the weekend had nothing to do with new software (as some CSRs are telling the customers). It was caused by the same problem that we have been having off and on for the last 3 years and 10 months. Sometimes a file gets corrupted and causes all sort of problems on the DishPlayers. You would think after doing it for that long that they could get a procedure (and robust software) so that corruption wouldn't happen.
Even at a higher price, those DirecTiVos are looking better...
I am so PO'ed with E* right now over this crap. I've been paying the PTV fee all along since I already had 2 DishPlayers when the deals started, it is unbeleivable that they keep having these huge issues just "crop up". I am so close to ordering some HDVR2's. In truth, the only thing stopping me is the whole HD PVR situation. I wish D* would come out with more concrete info (not that E* has a whole lot more out there). I am definitely going to buy an HD PVR but am really waiting so I don't "waste" my new customer status with D* in case they give some discount on the HD TiVo.
Downloaded the normal guide last night. Hopefully everyone got one.
