Less than 3 weeks until multiple Comcast Networks go HD (Style, G4, E!) and Versus/Golf Channel split into individual HD channels.

Has anyone found any articles or notes if DirecTV will at least have Vs HD and TGC HD split on Day One?

SatelliteRacer, any comment on here?

It won't be a huge deal until the NHL playoffs so there is time if it's not available right away.

I would think whenever D* does offer these as separate channels that they will get rid of 604 and only use 603 and 605 as full time HD channels.

Assuming the combined channel is still available after the split.

I would be shocked if they drop the combined channel on 12/8, that would screw a lot of Comcast systems that don't have space for both HD channels. Beyond the Comcast systems, many other providers would have problems with a drop dead date like that.

I would guess that Comcast will offer the combined channel for at least 6 months to give providers time to get space for both Versus and Golf Channel.

Most systems probably will as, in what I don't believe to be a coincidence, Mojo is going away Dec. 1st. That should provide room in most systems.

There will not be a VS/Golf hybrid after December 8. As I understand it, VS/Golf will become Golf HD, while Versus HD will launch as a "new" channel. MOJO will cease to exist on December 1st, so in many areas, Versus HD is being placed on the channel that currently has MOJO, with Golf staying where VS/Golf is now.

Good to know, and something to watch (no pun intended).

What I would like DirecTV to do is make the Golf channel both HD/SD on ch. 605, make Versus both HD/SD on ch. 604, and then ADD HRTV ( HorseracingTV ) to ch. 603. I know I'm not the only one who wants HRTV. C'mon already DirecTV, please add HRTV to ch. 603. Again I ask if anyone has any info. concerning HRTV getting on DirecTV?

Some cable systems use MOJO HD for RSN HD over flow.

I have read on AVS that many systems are adding HDNet to the Mojo slot

There was a time when I would have bet money that D* would have instantly added both HD channels. After the bitter disappointment that D11 has been so far I wouldn't be surprised if D* added neither in HD and added another PPV slot.

I was hoping D* would pick up this channel, but now I have to hope another channel picks up some of the programming.

Not sure, might continue the preempting

Most cable systems don't do RSN over flows at all. Thus why DirecTV is the place for sports. :D

I suspect that sense Directv already carries both these channels in HD, that they will carry them afterward... Basically, this is an exception to a rule IMHO... Its like 2 channels simply expanding their hours of HD, and they had to move them to make room for the larger amount of time...
