View Full Version : FOX picture issues Simpsons/Family Guy

Has anyone else noticed horrible picture problems with SD recordings of FOX animated series (Simpsons/Family Guy to be specific).

Its hard to explain but it's like like the screen locks up, but you can still hear the audio, then the screen starts getting blotchy (sometimes for up to 30 seconds), and then the picture will return. It will do this numerous times throughout an episode.

I don't know if is happening live because I am not home when the shows record.
It's been going on for about a month. l haven't seen any problems with any other recordings both HD & SD.

I record those programs on a regular basis with HR10-250 on chan 388 (Fox-NYC) and my local Fox channel. Have not seen any problems. Are you recording from your local Fox and if so could be a problem with your local station? Have you tried both of your HR20's?

Also I just noticed you are in Buffalo and there might be a problem with the Buffalo Fox station. The reason I suspect this is that Star Choice (Canadian satellite provider) gets some of their network feeds from Buffalo. Some time ago they stopped the Buffalo Fox feed and replaced with the Rochester Fox feed because they were having signal problems.

No I have not, I will do it this weekend, thanks.

It very well may be my local affiliate FOX 29-WUTV, I will look into that.

Hey... I think it's WUTV. I'm in the Buffalo metro too... happens on EVERY Fox recording I do, but magically football was fine on Sunday. During the Family Guy it pixelated/froze and the sound kept going. Prison Break & House (both HD programs) it pixelated and everything was gone, but for a much shorter time than the Family Guy was Sunday night. It's been happening for the past 2 weeks now, to put a date on it. I've also noticed it only happens right when they come back from commercial... just an observation.

i have had the same problems, i called my brother that lives 40 miles away from me, same problem during animation domination only, my father that lives 350 miles away in a different state, same problem, and a friend in new york state, same problem, also, my father is on Directv my brother dish, and antenna, and i am on ADSL cable, and my friend is on their local cable service up north. We are all boycotting FOX until they fix the problem and will watch it on Hulu.com or adult swim when it airs. just seems a little too selective to be a random problem, just shows created by seth macfarlane. 2 weeks in a row is unacceptable for a show that wont re air until cartoon network gets rights or their DVD box set comes out. i am hoping that Adult swim get exclusive rights to this show, then there will be no more problems
