I have noticed that the list of cities when accessed from 9500 is _not_ the same as when accessed from Dish Home 100. For example, my city, Longview, TX, is available on 100 but not from 9500. So, if you are using Instant Weather from both 100 and 9500, you may notice a discrepancy.

Greg has it. Rome, NY is included in the list when accessing the [Not So] Instant Weather application from Dish Home but not when accessing it from 9500.
It took me three times to access the weather on 9500, first time it froze, second time my 508 rebooted and third time amazingly, it actually worked.

Odd thing happened to me last night .. on channel 9500 the weather did not show up, it said it was being stored, and then my receiver shut off. I have the PVR501 and I did not have the channels from 119. I did a switch check and still no channels. Nothing showed up in the guide .. so I unplugged the receiver for a few minutes and that solved the proble. I think I will stay away from channel 9500.

They should also give you the option to show the weather in celcius.
I think the problem may be in what's going on "under the covers." When you tune to the dish weather applet under the dish home channel, you'll see the info about it loading and STORING it before the applet comes alive. After you do this ("downloading the app") and then if you go to channel 9500, it'll try and do a similar "loading/storing" thing and then die. I think there are two similar but DIFFERENT apps that give us the weather and when you overwrite one (the long-time 9500 one) with the newer app (dish home), and try to go back to the 9500 one, the software flubs up and causes the receiver to crash. I've tried to report this to dish's CSRs, but trying to explain a technical issue to some of those folks is "difficult" at best! I think that until dish fixes this issue, the "workaround" is to use and stick with the variant of the service you want (dish home or 9500). As has been pointed out, the dish home variant has more cities in the "City Finder".
