I can only record certain RSNs.. Using the HR20-700.

MSG and MSG+ are greyed out in my IRD's guide, although many other RSNs are blue and can be recorded.

Satelliteracer... any chance we can get this fixed?? Paying for SportsPack and not being able to record some of the channels stinks.

I believe you are not allowed to record on RSN's that aren't part of your local package.

If you subscribe to the multi sports pack you can (cept the balcked out games)

As far as I know you can record anything you can view.

No, because several people were complaining during baseball season that they couldn't record games on the RSN, but could on the extra innings channel if you had that package. People didn't understand why since the EI channel is basically the RSN remapped. I don't know exactly how it works since I don't record sports, but I remember this being an issue over the summer.

Interesting, I had never heard of that. I don't record many sports either. I wonder what they are protecting:)

Most, but not all, of the RSN's are grayed out on my guide. Except for the two local sports channels in LA, which I receive, none of the others are available, grayed-out or not. That's to be expected, since I don't subscribe to the sports package. But it does indicate that DirecTV still has some work to do getting the Channels I get issue resolved. I don't subscribe to any premium movie channels, but a couple of them show up in blue on the guide. But it says "channel not purchased" when I try to view such a channel.

Well technically you're not suppose duplicate sports programming without the consent of the teams, you know that little deal they read before every game? Might have something to do with it. Not sure..

Why do I pay extra for Sports Pack and pay extra for DVR service if D* is limiting what I can record. I am not necessarily talking about sporting events, but some of the non-game programming the RSNs put on (that are not blacked out).

Such as Inside The Rangers (on MSG - 634).. the show is not blacked out across the US, but I can only watch it live. I can't record it. Same goes for many other RSNs.

I don't think its fair to charge extra for these services (SportsPack and DVR) if we can't record these unblacked-out programs.

Isn't that covered by the old video tape case? You can record anything that's broadcast.

Weird. I don't experience these recording restrictions on any of the RSN channels.

I'm not sure. I still hear them read that before each game, so thought it may have something to do with it.

I have never had a problem recording on any RSN that I can see. Obviously some games are blacked out, but if I can see it, I can record it. (for personal use only of course :) )

Very strange, I'm a Plus HD DVR sub, with the sports pack and have never had an issue recording a non-blacked out program from any of the RSNs

That is aimed at commercial reuse. For example, ESPN cannot use CBS/NFL highlights without express written consent.

A side affect you see of this is that stations often don't show highlights of games still in progress.

Does this mean I need to call D* and get them to try to figure out? I know the 1st thing they'll tell me to fix it. Reboot.

I would try refresh services first, see if that fixes the problem before calling a CSR and getting the run around with them.

Good call, that is the first option

I tried refreshing my services and it did not fix it for me. Guess I'll have to call D*.
