apparently, the hard drive was going on my 622. Dish sent a replacement that i received the other day. i had the replacement receiver activated on Friday---which, because of a couple glitches, i was on the phone for almost half a day with Dish (not to mention the 4 times i got cut off and had to call back---which took up alot of the time).

anyway, i just received a smart card on Saturday for the previous 622. now, do i need to contact Dish about this? i just hate to call back and go through all the "rigamaroll" for what may be a dumb question. can i expect them to just send a new smart card for the replacement receiver that was just activated?

just an "average joe" sub

thanks!

Does the new receiver have a smart card installed?

You can check to see if the card is for your replacement receiver by comparing the receiver numbers (the R00 number, press menu twice to see it). Likely it isn't.

Check the card slot on your replacement 622 (it is on the front, left side under the pop out panel). If it has a card I would not call them. If it doesn't call them because it is very likely that you will need a new card.

Call the number that was on the information that you got with the new card and you won't have to go through the regular call center hassle.

If the receiver number on the paper is for the old receiver, just cut the card up and toss it. If the new receiver doesn't have a card, one will be sent for it later. Most replacements going out now do already have a card in them though.

That is what I thought. Thanks.

Posted a few times - to check if your receiver have G3 type of card press Menu twice and check three digits after "DNASP" word, if it "241", then you have it !
