View Full Version : Install with HD and duplexed OTA
I've tried to read and absorb several threads related to this topic, but am still not sure about my situation. I am getting an install for upgrade from SD to HD. I am keeping a SD DirecTIVO, and upgrading another location with a HR2x (whatever DTV installer brings).
Can I use my current duplexers to carry OTA from an attic antenna on the line leading to the HR2x and split off before DVR to use for my PC?

There are ways to do it but it would be DIY. Out of the box ka/ku uses the same frequencies as OTA and the tech will remove all diplexers.

Also, the H23 and HR23 have wideband tuners instead of using B-Band Converters (BBCs), and thus aren't compatible with the "workaround" that involves moving the BBCs. In the end, I wouldn't count on diplexing.

If you don't get an HR23 and want to try this, keep in mind that all diplexing (both the insert and split-off) must be done between the receiver and the BBC. Normally, the BBC's are attached right behind the receiver, so you'll have to move one of them into the attic to be "upstream" from where you insert the OTA. This this will require some barrel connectors because you have to keep them oriented in the correct direction.
