Hello,

I am sure that this question is probably answered some where on this forum, sorry for making you all repeat yourselves. I have only had DirecTV for about a year, before that I was with Dish Network, so I am familiar with DN equipment and adding receivers, but not with DirecTV.
Here is my question, I have a slimline 5 dish that has 4 LNB outputs, these 4 outputs go to my two HR21-700 boxes. Up unitl now I have had no use for a 3rd receiver, however with the impending DTV switchover, because I live 60 miles from the TV transmitters and the "rabbit ears" will no longer do, I am unable to receive local TV in my workout room, and I need to be able to add just a simple SD box in there so I do not have to buy a new TV antenna. Anyway, my question is, what kind of multiswitch do I need to get to multiplex those 4 outputs so that I can have 5, 4 to the HD boxes, and 1 to the basic SD box.

Thanks alot, your help will be appreciated

Bobby

You'll need a Zinwell WB68 wideband switch.

Thanks alot,

When I hook the switch up, do I need to run all 4 lines to the switch, then 2 lines to HR21 (1) and HR21 (2) and 1 line to SD (1) or can I just run 2 lines to one of the HR21's and 2 lines to the multiswitch and then 3 lines from the multiswitch?

Thanks so much for your help, I appreciate it.

All four lines from the dish go to the multiswitch. Your receivers will then connect to the outputs of the multiswitch. There are 8 outputs so you will be using 5, the extras will be spare.

Alright, thanks alot for all of your help. I found a Zinwell WB68 on E-Bay and got a good deal from DirecTV on a D12 so by next week I should be in business.

Thanks again

If you get an upgrade from D* with a truck roll the tech will bring and install the switch for you.

I recieved my Zinwell WB68 switch today, and I installed it. Both of my HR21-700's are working fine, but the D12-100 that I added in my basement is not getting a signal. At first, the D12 was receiving odd transponders only, then I went and switched the cables on the inputs around, and the D12 is not getting any signal at all. I dont know what I am doing wrong, I followed the instructions. All help will be appreciated.

Thanks

check the connection for that rcvr at the switch for a loose or damaged connection

Also, make sure that it isn't shorted. If there's a single "hair" of shield braid touching the center conductor, the whole cable is shorted and you won't get signal. This is a very easy mistake to make when installing a connector, and can usually be fixed without cutting off and replacing the connector. Use a utility knife or something that can cut/break off the shield "hair" and remove it.
