Upgrading my H20 in the basement to a HR22/AM21 combo. I am also adding a SWM8 and SWS4 since I only have one line running into the basement and would like to be able to record two shows simultaneously. I live in Milwaukee and since CBS (WDJT 58) HD is not carried over DirecTV, I need to use an antenna to get CBS in HD. I plan on adding a Channel Master 4220 outside next to my SWM8 and then diplexing the signal with the SWM signal over the SWS4 and then diplexing it at the receiver.

I already have a HR20 in my living room that has two RG6 cables running to it and a H20 in the bedroom that has one RG6 cable running to it.

Ultimately, is what I'm doing possible and is the following setup correct? First, my current setup...

SlimLine AU9 4 lines --> WB68 --> Lines A,B --> HR20 (Living Room) w/ Indoor Ant
--> Line C --> HR22/AM21 (Bsmnt) w/ Indoor Ant
--> Line D --> H20 (Bedroom) No Ant

What I want to do...

Slimline AU9 4 lines --> SWM8(SWM1) -->[Line A] PI(SWM) PI (IRD TERMINATED)

SWM8(SWM2) --> NAS STD-9501 --> SWS4 -->[Lines BCD] --> HR20, HR22, H20

CM 4220 Ant

There would be a NAS STD-9501 at each box to split the signal.

I've researched this pretty extensively, but I can't find anyone who is trying the above setup with the IRD on the PI terminated.

Thanks

It should work fine.

However, I'd install the SWM8 without the diplexing and verify that everything works well, first.

Then add the diplexing.

Since it isn't supported by D*, you'll need to eliminate it as a problem, just in case something else has an issue. If you have any problems, at all, D* will blame the diplexing first.

Would it be cheaper and/or possible to just install a SL5S SWM LNB, run that plus the CM4220 into a NAS STD-9501, then into the SWS4??

Can I have a diplexer (STD-9501) in between the SWM LNB & the PI??

No form of diplexing is supported by D*.

But, yes since the diplexer will power pass, one leg only, that should work, too.

It will work, but make sure your diplexers can handle 2 amps of DC power; most of the less expensive diplexers only handle 750 mA or less, and the SWM power inserter can burn them out.

The Holland DPD2 diplexers are high quality and 2 amp rated.
