Pardon the vanity post, just wanted to vent... I hate how the behavior of the 'dash' button seems to randomly change from time to time.

For a few months, within my recorded programs list I have to hit "dash-dash" to delete a program. I get used to it and do it without thinking.

Then, without warning, it'll rever to only requiring a single dash to delete a program. You can imagine what transpires... just accidentally deleted a movie I wanted to watch in addition to the item I meant to delete thanks to the single click behavior returning and my brain still doing double click without thinking.

Sigh.

R15 btw. :)

I wonder if your remote is sticking. I don't think the behavior has changed. R15 users, can you back me up here?

I never remember that that exists, so I've never tried it. And with his accidental results, and Mr. Sweet's plausible explanation, I think I'll stay away from it for just that reason.

I do remember at one time where the software did change to cause a single dash delete, and many complained (myself included). My R15 isn't active now, so can't check it, but I stopped using dash dash to delete. That problem was supposedly fixed, but perhaps it has come back.

My R-16 only needs one dash...but I use the red button just in case.

He's absolutely right .... occasionally the R15 'wigs out' and a single-dash does the deed.

A simple reboot fixes the problem ... no idea what makes it flip, but I've had that happen before....

A reboot did, in fact, fix it. Thank you. I thought DTV was messing with us.

The R15 still requires two dashes to delete a recording.

The software NEVER allowed one dash to delete a recording.....unless there was corrupted data somewhere. One day, one of my R15-300s started exhibiting this awful behavior. Fortunately, I spotted it before deleting an important show. After restarting the receiver, it demanded I go through the entire setup process again, so there obviously WAS some corrupted data either in non-volatile memory or in a disk file. After doing this (and to this day) it has always required two dashes.
