Hello,
I was talking to a neighbor that has DISH Network and he told me DISH has receivers where they can mirror programming (meaning charged for only one receiver) but he has the ability to watch different programming in different rooms. Says the DISH has the technology where he can have multiple receivers and different remotes and watching different channels but only get charged for only 1 receiver.... Is this true? Does DTV have that technolgy? I know you can 'mirror' programming in 2 rooms but what you see in 1 room you see the same channel in the other...

I've asked one of our Dish Network moderators to answer this question.

My parents have DISH and have a setup like this. For example, they have one box that feeds both the living room and the bedroom. The box is located in the living room. I believe with this setup, they lose the "dual tuner" functionality because each tuner feeds a different TV. The remotes are RF remotes so they can change the channel in the bedroom since the box is in the living room.

I'm not a Dish mod, but I'm a Dish sub. :)
Some Dish receivers have two tuners, but there is no extra charge for the second (built-in) tuner. That means that one receiver can serve two TVs with two different channels at the same time. Is that what you're asking about?
My mother has one of those setups with Dish. The second feed is SD only.
Also be aware that the extension in the 2nd room that uses the 2nd tuner get SD only. The primary TV can be HD and both tuners can record HD programs but playback on the 2nd TV is SD only. Also DirecTV does not have such a setup.

Yes, that exactly what it is...
Will DTV ever have this???? I think that is HUGE.

:Keep in mind that you need to have a phone line connected to this receiver or you will be charged for the second tuner, as if it was another receiver.:)
