View Full Version : Wireless setup?
I currently have a hard-wired router in my house for my computer and Xbo360. I would like to maintain that hard-wiring for the 360 & PC, but would like to have a wireless connection go to my new HR DVR for VOD access. What are my most economical options (read CHEAPEST!).
Thanks

....replace router with a wireless version...?
Correct, I got that part already. Just need to know what to go w/ for the unit at the DVR? I was going to get a wireless router to replace my existing, but what do I put at the DVR upstairs?

You'd be looking for a "wireless bridge" or "wireless gaming adapter" to put at the location of the DVR. Basically, these connect to the wireless router and then allow you to hardwire to the DVR.
I'm using two Linksys WGA54G Wireless Gaming Adapters (http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WGA54G-Wireless-G-Gaming-Adapter/dp/B00009X6DT/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227643048&sr=8-2) and they both work like a champ!

The WGA600N works great and is now supported ib the DVR software just plug it into the DVR and set it up no need to setup on computer first.

Wow, that's nice. That was the only part of the WGA54G's that could even be a little tricky - the need to hook it to a computer to configure it first and then hook it to the DVR and configure the DVR. Basically both the adapter and the DVR each had to know the network specifics (IP, subnet, default gateway and DNS). I may have to check those out. Thanks! :)
Thanks again guys. Just what I needed to know.
