EducatorTV the public service channel on channel 9417 hasn't been on in about 2 weeks. I enjoyed the early vintage (late 40s-1950s) Tv programs and movies they would air. Does anyone know what happened to it?

Good question! Its web site http://www.educatortv.com/ was down when I checked this morning, but strangely enough, its stream looks alive when viewed on Google's cached version of its front page.

Personally, I was always a bit puzzled by its "educational" purpose. Whenever I tried to watch, I saw lots of public domain stuff bracketed by ads trying to sell stuff. No wait, those were program breaks appealing for particular donation amounts which would result in particular welcome gifts. ;)

There was a slate by Dish a few weeks ago ("technical difficulties; channel will be restored soon") but now it says "off air" and is a Dish logo instead.

I wonder what PI will replace it?

CTN (Christian Television Network) is uplinked and not available.

The web site is still down this morning. I also wondered why it was a public service channel if they were trying to sell books and ask for donations. I did enjoy the vintage TV programs. I could be they are another failed business because of the economy.

Try http://www.video.aol.com. There you'll find shows like: Father knows best, The Dick Van Dyke show, CHIPS. And the video is great.

Paul: Thanks for the lead on a great website but I can't do much with it as I only have a dialup modem. Try http://www.video.aol.com. There you'll find shows like: Father knows best, The Dick Van Dyke show, CHIPS. And the video is great.
