Well I saw a post on dbsforums regarding refunds on programming credits, and Dish Network. Some people get their credits back while others do not. I had A account with them about 14 months ago and stopped service, with A $19.00 credit on my account. At that time I asked for my credit to be refunded, and was politely told "no way"! I called Dish Network today and again asked for a refund. The first rep. gave me the same answer as before, then I thought i'd call back and give it one more shot. This time I mentioned that A relative of mine stopped service and was given a refund on their credit card.I asked what was up with some customers receiving refunds , while others were not. I had also paid by credit card, and told them if they would not give me a refund I would take it up with the VISA people. To make A long story short, I should be receiving A credit on my VISA card for about $19.00 in the next few days..It took about 20 minutes of mine and Dishes time, but I actually wound up getting A refund from Dish. You all think Dish is actually understanding the value of "word of mouth"?

No. they are just giving in to the pressure you placed on them by threatening to contest the credit card charge. They probably figure it would cost them less in the long run by giving in to these threats.

What really happened is that severals state's AG office went after DISH. What they were doing was illegal in many states.

I just cancelled some stuff, and though the bill hasn't come in yet to see if I get a prorated refund, they told me they were charging me a $5 "service charge" (though that had never been mentioned or described anywhere). I didn't have time to pursue it, so let it go. Am I an sucker?

I have always been aware from day 1 (years ago) that removing programming incurs a $5 service fee.

Yeah, the $5 downgrade fee is standard. I think it sucks, but it is part of your agreement.
