A television news engineer faces smuggling charges after attempting to bring into the United States 12 stolen Iraqi paintings, monetary bonds and other items, federal officials said Wednesday. A criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va., charges that Benjamin James Johnson, 27, tried to bring the paintings into this country last Thursday. They were contained in a large cardboard box that was examined by Customs agents at Dulles International Airport outside Washington.

Note to self: Begin lobbying the Bush Administration to supply emergency federal funding to the English Departments of every school in Wisconsin.

Note to Jay Leno: Peninsula - a portion of land nearly surrounded by water and connected with a larger body by an isthmus.

Proud member of the vast Michigan based conspiracy to convince the rest of the country; it’s Pop not Soda.

While all you guys keep bashing CNN, it appears that the biggest gaffes by embeds are from Fox News. First geraldo gives away troop locations, and now another Fox staff member appears to have been a looter.

Well I'm from New Orleans where it's called a "soft drink" to distinguish it from a "mixed drink" or "hard liquor". ;)

It would be an interesting survey to see what the common term is in the different members areas?

As a kid in Ireland we would occasionally be offered an “Orange”; a generic term for a lightly carbonated orange drink that is still used today. There was also “Cavan Cola” named for the county where it was produced. It was a poor country in those days!

As an older kid in Michigan there was no term other then “Pop”. It wasn’t until I was old enough to travel the States that I found that this term was regional to the mid-west and strangely also to Oregon and Washington State. Now living in Massachusetts it's "Soda" for everyone but me, get strange looks when I ask for a Pop.

There are also loads of unique regional brands. Detroit’s prime examples are Faygo with its various flavors and of course Vernors Ginger Ale that is the oldest in the country.

Sorry…. What was the topic again?
