By following the directions posted in this forum, I have been able to connect my HR21 to the internet using a laptop to bridge from my wireless network.

Using viiv, I can see the DVR from my desktop computer, but the media server is not showing up on the DVR. The DTV directions make it look like the music and photos public beta should just show up. It doesn't Any suggestions what to try next?

Thanks

Can you ping the DVR's IP address from your desktop computer? Restarting the DVR may help.

You may also need to open up any firewall which is running on the computer.

Yup. I can ping the DVR. Tried turning DVR off and on. Are you suggesting a red button restart?

Have you set up Media Sharing in Windows Media Player Library?

Yes I did, and it sees the DVR. On the DVR, should the media option show up on the main menu? Keep thinking I must be looking in the wrong place.

Yes, it should appear as a line item on the main menu. Did you add the files you want to share in WMP? Select Library; Add to library?

Up untill the last two releases, I could only successfully display pictures on the dvr by setting up Playlists. Now everything pictures, videos, and music work great with or without Playlists. I just use WMP Media Server via WMP 11. I gave up on Windows Media Center and Intel's Viiv. TVersity worked great on my XP machine, but I have found Vista works fine with the WMP Media Server.
