Does anyone remember an application in Widows, pre XP I think. It had netcam i think in the title and it was just a program to webcam with someone, you would type in there ip adress, anyone know the name of it and would it work on vista 64? If not does anyone know a basic free program that one can view someone on a webcam, no need for chat or anything like that so not looking for something like yahoo. We have actually tried yahoo and aim and msn but the webcam portion doesnt work, something about meebo keeps coming up but since I do not have a webcam only the relatives i cant view theirs unless we have one. Just need something that we can use for the holidays to view a relatives webcam. thanks

Yep, it was netmeeting. IIRC, they moved the netmeeting functionality into Windows Messenger and then into Live Messenger.

I've always used Yahoo and haven't had any issues. It's odd that it won't let you see them unless you have a webcam on your side. Did you do a google search on the error? If it turns out that you have to have one to get it to work, take a look at todays deal at woot.com. Two Phillips webcams for 12.99 plus $5 to ship (they take about a week to ship). Granted, for the same $20, you could probably go pick one up at Walmart or BB or just about anywhere that sells computer stuff.

yes netmeeting thats it, but oh well to that then. The reason i cant view others webcam is i think because of meebo because in yahoo or aim and someone invites me to view then it gives me a meebo link and i have to go to meebo to view but then it says i can only do voice no webcam. Someone else told me i would need a webcam to view someones.
