WASHINGTON - U.S. forces in Iraq (news - web sites) apparently have taken custody of Tariq Aziz, the former Iraqi deputy prime minister, Pentagon (news - web sites) officials said Thursday.
No details on the circumstances of the capture or surrender were immediately available.
Aziz is one of the best-known members of the Iraqi leadership. On the U.S. list of the 55 most-wanted members of the former government, he was No. 43.
Two Pentagon officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they believed Aziz was in U.S. custody. Both said they were awaiting confirmation from U.S. Central Command headquarters in Qatar.

Maybe he will get some new glasses. Of course with SARS going around, the partial face shield look he wears might be a good idea after all.

...I think it was on MSNBC (though not sure) that I heard this morning that Tariq Aziz was an unusual member of Sodom's regime, in that he was a Christian, not a Muslim, from Mosul Iraq.

They say that is what kept him alive so long, he had no chance of becoming leader as only Sunni Moslems were able to hold that position, so his threat level to Saddam never showed up on the radar, where a Sunni Moslem who obtained that level of power would possibly try to grab it all for himself.
He is the best source yet to disclose any possible locations of those pesky WMDs we went to war over.

Yeah. I heard the same thing on CBS radio. Apparently Sodomy thought a Christian would never try to steal power in a Muslim country.

Without Mila Jonnovivich running around in just an Ace Bandage, it might have lost some of its attraction :D
Maybe a little, but still a great action flick in it's own right. "Like I said, perfect."
He had his moments in Gulf 1, but he's not nearly as entertaining as Baghdad Bob.

"A case with four stones in it! Not one or two or three but four stones! What am I supposed to do with an empty case?"
My wife loves when I do impressions of Zorg so I remember most of the best lines. Gary Oldman has done a number of such memorable parts including Smith in Lost in Space and that psycho DEA agent in The Professional. He makes it really easy.
