new annoyance on the r15 guide?

for the last few days, pressing select on a program in the guide puts the channel on in the little PIP window, but doesn't remove the guide. you have to either hit select again or exit to remove the guide.

is this a bug or just some weird quirk going on in my box? was there a software update recently?

Yes, along with a big lesson/warning about it. And if you try "reset everything" the lesson gets much nastier describing the consequences... :D
