Doesn't DISH also charge for some of the HD too?

"Phillip Swann, president of TVPredictions.com, forecast last month that DIRECTV would soon charge for HD content to appease new owner Rupert Murdoch, who is not a fan of free HD."

I hope that some portion of the HD content will reamin in the basic package cost. That allows someone to test drive HD before buying.

So if you order a premium movie package you have to pay extra for the HD channels in that package? So I assume that one will only have to pay for the HD channels and not for the whole package and it be cheaper then since there are not as many HD channels available in a package, at least thats what I would hope.

Let's set some fact stright about Phillip Swann, he is a person who browses around forums like ours and looks for little signs and then reports them as "predictions".

I have seen numerous "Predictions" from Swann posted after we already posted the news here.

I do give him credit though, while we call our news "news" he takes our news (or others news) and spins it and calls it "Predictions" because our site and other sites are quite credable most of his predictions come true, when they don't he dont take a hit because he did not report it as a hard fact just a prediction.

Now as far as his current "Prediction" he thought he had something, and from what I know this prediction is false at this time. I know that DirecTV is not even in "active" negotiations with DiscoveryHD, plus at the moment they dont have space for 4 more HD Channels (I am told they are waiting till their new Spot Beam satellite goes up before adding new HD content and that satellite is not going up til the end of the year or later!)

So listen her Swanny... I am going to make a prediction are you ready? "Dish Network will offer the same package you described for DirecTV and I predict it will be available before the end of September."

The new spot beam sat that Directv is going to launch, will that require a new dish or quad lnb's or anything like that?

No Kek, the new spotbeam satellite is going to go to 119 this will allow them to move locals to spot beams opening up many new slots for use for things like HDTV and other new channels.

You will not need any new equipment. :)
