So, I finally broke down and setup a recording for Discovery Channel's Time-Warp:
http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/time-warp/time-warp.html

This is a FANTASTIC show, and probably will only be on for a short while. (explained below).

The usage of slow motion cameras in HD is simply amazing to see how thing actually happen. Anyone who is a HD geek, should like this show as the vividness of some of the shots is just amazing.

Then anyone that is at all intrested out how things actually happen, this is just thing we never got to see before.

I HIGHLY recommend this show for anyone, including kids. Even young kids should get a kick out of it.

Now for why I think it won't last long.

Two reasons:
1) Money, this can not be a cheap show to produce. But I can see where product placement advertisment could easily make it into the show

2) Ideas, there are only so many things they will be able to show.
Similar to Dirty Jobs where you are simply eventually going to end up running out of enough ideas to have a series.

Fontano, you're right. This is a great show, although the first few episodes showed the same footage over and over. Now they realize how much they have to shoot to get a half hour show.

I like this show because they shoot all over Boston and northeastern Mass., and I recognize a lot of the areas. It's also a lot of fun watching the weird things they do. The guy who karate-chopped through boards looked very painful though.

Now, considering that really there are very few ideas:

solid things that look like fluids in slow motion
things that seem to defy gravity
fire
staring at women in slow motion

Sooner or later they will cover them all to everyone's satisfaction.

It is a great show. I find it absolutely fascinating. I record it on my bedroom HR-21 and every week, my six year old says "Daddy, can we watch the slow-motion show tonight?"

She is also a Dirty Jobs junkie. I think it's because Rowe is always talking about P:) :)

I have meant to post something about this several times but forgot. It is a cool show, no doubt. I hope they do not run out of ideas too soon, but I can see that happeneing.

Not to bring it into the gutter; but I could see the episode now.

What happens to the skin ( ;) ;) ;) ) when it is exposed to cold weather.

Actually, not trying to keep this in the gutter, but that reminds me of a show I saw on TV at least 20 years ago. It was a medical look into human reproduction using all sorts of high-tech cameras and scanners to show everything that happens inside the body from conception through childbirth. It was truly fascinating and very well done.

Sorry I brought it down to the gutter, just to easy.

But I did see that same series of shows, it was very cool.
The kids these day don't realize how much better it is then when we were in school.

When the highlight was the older movie reels and the occasional episode of 3-2-1 Contact.

How many seasons did Baywatch last?

As an aside, Casio's EX-F1 camera allows you to create high-speed videos yourself. The videos are low-resolution - not even close to HD - but the EX-F1 doesn't cost 10's of thousands of dollars like those HD high-speed cameras. And, it's a lot of fun to make your own slow-motion videos.

I mainly use mine for taping rocket launches. You can read my review of the camera and find links to videos I've made with it at:

I did not realize this was back on, but new Episodes of Time Warp are now airing on Wednesdays before Mythbusters. Luckily, I did not have delete my Season Pass from last time to record other shows due to the silly limit, but if any of you have, time to set it back up.
