Hi, I have the 722 being delivered today, and was wondering if I will still need to use a DTV box to watch my locals if they go through my DVR OTA input, vs Antenna/DTV Box/TV, way I've been doing it up till now. Thanks
No converter box is needed when the signal comes from the receiver. Even for OTA. The receiver takes care of it all.
Although you may not need it, you may still want it. I think the original 722 has two satellite tuners and one over the air tuner. There may be times when you want to record activity on the other tuners, but still watch something else over the air. The other thing is it will depend on how you are set up. My TV1 is the one that we watch over the air TV on. I have three others that are TV2 and they cannot watch over the air through my 622 unless I select single output. Not everybody is configured that way, however.

Jim,
I don't think you understood the OP's question.
As ChuckA said, the OTA tuner in the 722 is an ATSC tuner and will directly allow viewing/recording of OTA digital signals without the need for a converter box.
Or maybe we misunderstood the question?

Nope, that was my question. Thanks for your quick responses. One less box I have to have plugged in now. :) Great website. Look forward to learning alot more from your posts here.

No, you don't need it, but I was advised by the engineer for the local ABC affiliate that we all need to re-scan our channels after the transition, as the actual frequencies (not the channel labels) will change.
