View Full Version : Forcing a channel to a tuner?
Is there a way to force a channel to a particular tuner? I continue to have problems with 206 and 209 while 73 and 72 and the ESPN SD signals are fine.
When I get a blank screen and/or 771 message I would like to swap to the other tuner to see if I can isolate the problem.
Change channels 3 times. From 206 to something. From something to something else. From something else to 206.
Each time you change channels, you should change tuners (unless you are recording something at the moment).

Carl, I'm not so sure about that. I was curious about this and tried to find a way to test it. What I came up with was removing one of the BBC's and then using 103(c) channels. With nothing recording and watching a 103(c) channel, I removed the feed from tuner #2 which immediately produced a 771 error. So, now I knew #2 was the "foreground" tuner. I then reconnected that, but removed the BBC from tuner #1. I was then able to change to any 103(c) channel with no 771 errors. This leads me to believe that the HR2x always uses the same tuner for live TV.
I know I was able to do that with an HR21 and AM21 where I had an ota problem on one tuner. I'm trying to remember now if I had to only cycle using ota channels, or if I could cycle using any channel. I think I could use any channel, and it would always toggle tuners. That was awhile back though, it is possible the software has changed since then.

This was probably six to eight months ago when I did my experiment.
