I have a 3 receiver setup. This morning I noticed that I was getting the "searching for channels" message on a few channels. I looked at the signal strength meters and all the sat strengths are ok (80+ - 100) except for 101. I get 0 on all the odd transponders for this satellite but high numbers on the even ones.

The readout looks like this for 101:

0 89 0 95 0 77 0 94
0 88 0 89 0 99 0 85
etc

Only one of my receivers is behaving this way. The others are fine.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Thanks

I have the same problem. If you remove your BBC and put it back in you will get a picture for a while on those channels that are 771 signals. If you take off the BBC and just use the cable the channels are fine. I assume you talking about standards channels. The channels for me have lastest a couple of days or just unil I turn the channel and back on again and its gone. I have a HR 21 100 and I have had a tech out he put new bbc and align the dish it did not help. I think it is a software problem. The channels that are affected are standard channels wgn superstaion, lifetime. AMC and a some channels in the hight 300s.

That sounds EXACTLY like my problem. Standard channels in the 300's are the ones affected (unfortunately one of them is 301 which my children love to watch)

I keep getting the same thing, though not consistently! Channels 252, 253, 254 are pretty much down all the time now. Others in that range have the message disappear and reappear at random it seems. Had a tech check alignment and replace the BBC. It worked until he left (!) then later that night stopped working again. I have an HR-20 100 with 0x29b.

My problem is not constant either, some days its fine and other days I have to take out and put back in the bbc for it to work. As I said before there is no problem when the bbc is not connected and just the cable put in the satellite receiver. Your channels are some of the channels I have problems with. Everything was find until the last download.

Yep -- same problem here too, once with an HR20 and now with an HR21 that was swapped because of the problem on the HR20. A tech came out and checked everything. All seemed fine for a while and then the same crap again.

DirecTV really needs to get this apparent software problem figured out because it's costing them a bunch of money.

It is clearly a software issue--the same as the prior 110-119 tuner 2 issue. Those with SWMs do not experience the problem from what I understand.

Tonight most of my standard channels are showing a 771 message. I am so sick and tired of this happeining. I had a dish alignment and new bbcs. I take my bbc out and the channels are good. They last until I turn the channel or for a couple of days. I have been with Directv since the begining but between the local channel two issue and this its enough to think about cable. I call directv and they know nothing about anything. I suggest they read this forum or maybe watch their programming once a while. I know the 771 is probably a software issue and I wish they would tell their customers what is going on. We should not have to read about this in a forum to know that other customers have the same problem.
