View Full Version : Wow - Philly station football was highly undesirable yesterday!!
Just seeing if anyone else had all of those audio dropouts and poorly synced audio on yesterday's football games. It was almost unwatchable. At one point a loud static pop hit and then lasted for about a minute or two. I had to mute the sound and watch without it for a while.
This was the Fox 29 Philadelphia channel. I spoke with my folks in York, PA on Comcast and they weren't having the problem.
Anyone else have this issue? Advice for next time? Was it a station, transmission, etc. problem or DTV?
I have 3 DVRs and all 3 had the exact same issue. Reboot did not help.

There are some other posts, it seems the problem was quite common, I had to mute my tv just to watch.

Philly football was highly undesirable yesterday because they beat "my" Giants.
But kudos to the Eagles - well played game. Hope they beat Dallas in a few weeks!

I had FIOS and watched the game, I noticed no issues...so I don't think it was a FOX 29 issue

At the least it was a transmission issue between the station and DirecTV. I had no problems on the Sunday Ticket feed.
I could very well be a local station issue even if the feed was fine on Fios and cable. We had a problem with a local ABC station a while bad and it was only on DirecTV. Ended up being a bad cable at the stations control room that carried the feed that was sent to DirecTV. Thus even though the problem was only seen on DirecTV, it was actually a problem at the stations control room.
Best thing to do, if it's always happening on that station, is to contact the local station and let them know their feed on DirecTV is messed up so they can start investigating things in their control room up to the DirecTV receive facility.

Ch 5 in NY had some stuttering issues again. This happened last week too.
Philly Fox 29 HD was horrible - it was unwatchable.
I changed to "all channels" the sd was okay but you had to watch in sd. They got it fixed with about 5 minutes left.
I don't care who was at fault.
By the way, how could anyone watch it on Sunday ticket when it was a national game? The Sunday ticket feed probably was fine - considering it was a black screen. They're blacked out when they're national.

 This game wasn't on my local station. Thus it was available on Sunday Ticket. A game is only blacked out on Sunday Ticket if it's on your local station. Not every market carries the same game. ;)
EDIT: Look here - http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2008-14-FOX1.html
Anywhere not in red would get the game on Sunday Ticket.

The signal was fine for me, but the outcome I did not like.

I also was watching on WPMT (York) and no problems there. Did you switch over to the OTA feed of Fox 29? Sounds like it was either a Fox 29 problem or D* problem.

yep had to keep hitting pause for 5 seconds to make it stop.
Same issue outside Atlantic City. It was unwatchable in HD due to the audio.

Ok, first of all - I got a PM within hours that the mod had edited the title so that was VERY perceptive of you;) . You can fill in the blanks for what you thought I originally wrote. However, I do respect the mods' approach and why he had to change it.
And 'B' - I'm actually a Steelers fan who happens to live in Philly so I tolerate the Eagles but barely watched the game. Had the audio dropouts not been there I think I would have been more involved in that game.
Man I was frustrated during the Steelers game. I didn't go SD but I tried off air and for some reason my antennae was not working (I think it was the 771 error) so I couldn't test the difference. I was hoping that would do it but no go!
Has anyone contacted Fox, Fox Philly or DTV to complain? If so/not does anyone have their contact info so we can hopefully get them to address this? I'm ok b/c the rest of the games are all AFC so I'll be watching ST or CBS but I'm worried once we get further in the season and I want to watch some of the NFC playoff games.
Thanks!
