I don't know the exact day and time, but I'm sure we're getting them soon. We're getting all available HD channels soon.

RIF. "Up to 150 HD channels" doesn't mean "150 HD channels". They fulfilled their stated promise long ago.

Here we go, another one of those threads......................
I saw Comedy Central HD announced to be added to a cable companie's line-up sometime in January. They even had a HD logo in the press release.

Please forgive me, but I'm going to offer one and only one warning:
This is not a thread about how many channels DIRECTV has, or their quality.
The topic of this thread is G4 and E!, whether they will be on DIRECTV in HD.
Please, I ask you all to keep to that topic, and the thread will stay open.
Are any G4 or E! shows even shot in HD?
I watch Attack of the Show and The Soup, but that's it.

For those who understand complete sentences - Not all channels are available on D* when they officially launch.
If D* continues its form they will more than likely launch on a Wednesday.

According to Comcast it did (http://www.comcastnetworks.com/).
A number of Comcast subscribers are reporting the addition of the channels to their lineup.

Based entirely on hearsay and conjecture, I would say E! could be a possibility at some point and G4 possibly not until D12.
There was a poster about a week or so ago alleging D* sent him a poll on the channels he would most like to see D* add in HD. Out of the 15 or so channels, E! was listed; G4 was not. The OP couldn't say for sure that the channels he listed were the complete survey, so there's always the possibility that G4 was included. However, I would assume the ratings of E! programming would out weigh the hotness of G4's women.
Also, a poster recently said a CSR said D* hasn't "announced" carrying E! yet. This terminology is somewhat ambiguous, especially compared to other channels the posters asked about.
Assuming D* actually plans to add more national before D12, and they are choosing not to add further HBO simulcasts, I would guess E! as a real possibility at some point. Given DirecTV's limited bandwidth, G4 might be too specialized a channel for them to add before D12 is in orbit.

Using that logic, they fulfilled that promise when they added the first HD channels. Following Liberty's pattern since they took over DirecTV, don't expect to see E!HD, or G4HD for a few months. But hey, you can always order an overpriced HD PPV.

That's my point: Marketing departments have a long history of using such misleading language, and should NOT be taken at face value.
It's no different than Comcast having "thousands of HD choices", which they KNOW most people are going to think means "thousands of HD *channels*".
Bringing "marketing-speak" into a technical discussion is pretty pointless.

Cox Gulf Coast has announced they will start carrying it in the first week of January.
Probably doesn't exist now, but in the next month.

I am finding all kinds of indicators about Comedy Central in HD for December including information on the Cox Cable web site... strangely the two places I would expect to see information about this are totally silent.. the Comedy Central web site and the Viacom web site...

Here's a lineup card from one of the Gulf Coast Cox systems. The others have the same information
http://www.cox.com/gulfcoast/channellink/pdfs/Pensacola.pdf
They all list Comedy Central HD, but have the following footnote:
***Tentatively available first week of January 2009.
What are the negotiation dynamics here? Aside from some D* customers clammoring, in whose interest is it more to get HD versions? Does Comcast want the HD versions on D* so it can generate higher viewership and thus charge more for ads? If so, I would love to see D* hold off on adding these and demand CCSN Philly carriage be part of the deal. I've been out of the Philly area for seven years and I am still pissed I can't get my *World Champion* Phillies and the comforting voice of Harry Kalas on D* regularly. I stopped subbing to MLBEI because of that.

I heard on a radio commercial about a week ago that a show on E! would be HD but don;t remember what it was.
