Is there ANY information as to what the expansion port on the back of the 721 is?
What signals does it carry?
Are there any clues anywhere as to what it may be used for in the future?
Just sitting here wondering......

They add them to a bunch of their receivers 'reserved for future use' but never do anything with it. I doubt 721 is going to be any different

Well the 5000 and the 6000 actually used their expansion slots. I bet the 721 will use its slot for internet access.

Nope for Internet access to work you just need a USB Network adapter. :)

4000 used it, too, to add Dolby Digital.

How about a High Def expansion module for the 721! =)

Have all of the expansion ports been the same?
or at least the same connector?

You are thinking about a graceful and logical implementation of Internet access for the 721. I'm thinking of a clumsy half hearted attempt at internet access.
