I have a HR21-100 on my HDTV and a H21-100 on my SD tv in basement. On the H21-100 the guide seems to work real fast. I.E. when I surf thru the guide, either by single channel or if I page up or down it responds instantly when I push the buttom. On my HR21-100, the guide is very slow. If I page up or down, it sits there for a second and sometime several seconds before it moves. When I push the select button, it sits there a second or sometimes several seconds before the guide responds.

I was wondering if this was a problem with the HR21-100 or is it normal? It gets very frustrating at times as I use the HR21-100 99 percent of the time. It it possibly a setting?

This is normal, unfortunately. It is speculated that this is caused by what the DVR has to do versus what a non-DVR has to do with guide and other information. My H20-600 menuing works far faster than my two DVRs.

The guide on the DVR's is slower than the guides on the non-DVR's.

You can try turning off the guide animations (forget where that is in the setup screen) and it may help some.

Yes, I'm running without guide animations, and I'm on the latest CE release, and my 2 HR21-700's are *almost* as fast as my H21-100 when guide surfing.

This is driving me nuts too! I am getting so sick of my HR21-100.......... it is slow as molasses. My HR20-700 is super quick compared to the HR21-100.

I don't get it, I've always heard to stay away from the "-100" models, but this is making this seem true.

As mentioned by the original poster, the guide is extremely slow and unresponsive. I'm hesitant to do a CE because this is the main box in the family room, and if something goes wrong, I'll never hear the end of it.

I just have to say I am extremely disappointed with this HR21-100 model box. It becomes quite frustratiing when you have to wait 3-4 seconds for a command to respond from the remote. Thank God I don't actually own this box.

That new Tivo HD DVR can't come soon enough!

I love when people say this!

Seems to me there were quite the bugs to work out of the HR10-250s when they first hit the market. And talk about slow???? Try waiting two to three solid MINUTES or more when you set an SP for the thing to come back to a place where you could do something else!

Ya, bring on the new TiVo. I'll wait this time until it's a relatively good, functioning unit - and I probably won't have to pay $1000 to be "one of the first on my block to own one" by the time it's bugs are worked out of it either!

Will that be before or after that pesky Mayan calendar runs out?

There are benefits to not being an early adopter:) :) :) More reliability and fewer complaints along with lower costs.
