I have had the DIRECTV Protection Plan for about 28 months now and never have had my slimline realigned. It’s wicked windy out right now and every once in a while my signal goes scrambled when a big gust of wind hits.
My question is
If having my dish realigned locks me into another contact even though I have the Protection Plan?
Thanks

no lock on new agreement, it will not add anything to get a serv call, but wait for the weather to calm down. the tech will not come during bad weather, and if signal is ok during good weather, you will not get any satisfaction

If it's wind that's causing the signal drops, I'd also be focusing on the bolts being used to attach the dish to the structure, and the integrity of the structure holding the dish. You don't want a tech only checking the tightness of bolts on the dish itself, you want him checking all the bolts. ;)

Will do;)
Many Ka-band dishes were installed with less-than-solid support. If it is mounted so the top of the dish can wobble around in the wind it may need two outrigger supports that convert the single large mast to a tripod with the additional two outriggers providing much stiffer support. Ka-band has a narrower beamwidth than the old Ku band. It needs a really solid support to keep the signal steady.

Yes good point. To the OP, make sure you have the "monopoles" installed as well. That should also be covered under your protection plan as it's a required part of the install.

There is one monopole plus the regular rigging going into the side of the house

You'll want a second one installed. Mention this to a CSR and this should generate a truck roll.

I just got off the phone with D* I have lost all signal strength on all satellites except for 119 which are reading the highest at 54. My dish is moved out of sink and D* will be here tomorrow with extra monopoles for the realignment.
My question is what channels use satellite 119 so I can try to watch something.
Thanks

This is why a minimum of 2 monopoles (set 90 degrees apart) are REQUIRED for all Ka/Ku installs.

I agree and the tech will bring them tomorrow
