I knew they charged $10 for premium & sports pak if you changed for less than 30 days, but when did they begin charging $10 to change your basic programming if held for less than 30 days?

Probably when they saw a substantial number of people bouncing back and forth between packages.

The CSR just stated there was a $10 fee for switching your basic package if you've had it less than 30 days.

It would have to be. Penalizing your customers for trying to give you more money is insane.

Did this just start Dec 1? I just changed my package back and forth in a matter of few days just around Thanksgiving, and at least don't see such a charge on the activity on the website

Don't know when it started. Like yourself, have not seen the $10 charge on my account, online yet. Maybe the CSR was BSing me about the charge? Direct usually tacks that $10 fee the next day..... Maybe she "forgave" me because I was courteous and didn't give her a hard time when she mentioned the fee;) .

So this charge to change "basic" packages doesn't exist? That is what I am gathering from all these posts.

The only way I could see you being charged this fee is if your "basic" package was Premier and you downgraded to Choice or Choice Extra, in effect removing the premium movie channels.:)

No premium channels in my basic package. The CSR stated the charge was because I had my basic package for less than 30 days prior to switching to another basic package.

I switched from Premier to Plus HD/DVR online yesterday (had it for 4 months free with NFL package) and was charged 10 today for "Premium Service Disconnect Fee!"
Now I have to call CSR to have it removed...petty pain and a waste of time...

Did you keep Premier for the full 4 months?

So you guys upgrade when you have some at home time, then downgrade when you don't have time to watch TV, I may start doing this.

Yes I kept it for 4 months. Although, after 30 days I don't see why they would charge for changing back.

The CSR just looked it up, apologized, and put me on hold and gave me the 10 back as a credit.
