Dish put back channel 9405 today, which was formally California College something or another. The new channel is Health TV and is on 61.5. (and 148, I'm assuming).

I wish they'd put the Classic Arts Showcase channel on. My mom has that thing on 24/7 with her Cable. I wouldn't dare mention switching to a DBS at her house if CAS wasn't there.

I thought that Discovery Channel purchased the Health Channel. How does this make it a public interest channel?

I also thought Discovery was going to morph the Health Channel into DIscovery Health?

I d take a guess that the name "says it all" (more or less) :)

Scott,
I do not think it is the same Health Channel that DTV lets say carries...(i compared them).. They are different...

Besides - this one is Health TV :)

This is not The Health Network, it's Health TV, a completly different channel. When I had it on, it was just like all the other PI channels, some boring talking head.

Check out the Health TV schedule at http://www.healthtvchannel.org/main/scheduling.php

It's got presentations from the American Institute for Cancer Research, the American Public Health Association, and the Global Health Council. It's also got stuff from the International Society of Hypertension, but I'm scared to watch any of those meetings.

It's not as fun to watch as Classic Arts Showcase, but Health TV looks like it's presenting high-quality information for free. And at least they have a user-friendly online schedule, so normal humans have a chance to pick and choose what programming they want to watch.

Whaddaya want for nothin? A rrrrrrubber biscuit?
