View Full Version : Broadband connection induced issue with 622s?

I recently connected both of my 622s to my broadband DSL service. All of the expected functionality that adds seems to be working fine – downloads from DishONLINE are averaging 2600-2900Kbps. However, it has also brought some unexpected and unwanted functionality. As long as they are connected to BB I cannot use DishHOME to either view or pay my monthly Dish bill. If I disconnect them from BB (and I must also force them to lose their DHCP IP address assignments by power-plug resetting them,) then the DishHOME statement view/payment features work as expected.

Once I reestablish the BB hookup that functionality is again lost. Both 622s seem to become confused by the presence of two possible communication pathways. I say this because I noticed that they still do the Telco dial-out for this Dish communication function, even though there is an active BB connection available. Under this situation the 622s pause for a long period of time (5-6 minutes) on the EA04 establishing connection screen then eventually display an EA09 ERROR screen stating that they are “Unable to connect to DISH Network at this time. Please try again later.”

For a second test I tried disconnecting the phone line from the 622s to see if that would force them to use the BB connection but all that did was cause them to display an EA07 ERROR screen stating that “You receiver must be connected to a phone line to complete this transaction. Please connect it to a phone line and try again.”

I am still on the L6.14 software on both of my 622s – hopefully they have addressed this problem in the new software that has begun to spool.

Thanks for the input olguy ~
They should add the following to that Tech Portal article ~ "and in order to fully utilize all DishHOME features (such as Bill Pay and Statement View) you must also disconnect the active Broadband connection and power-plug the receiver. After deciding that you no longer need all DishHOME features you may reconnect the receiver to the Broadband service." :D

That's brightest SW solution I ever seen in whole industry !

Don't tell me how smart phones can handle THREE [CDMA/GSM and BlueTooth and WiFi] connections without turning On/Off the features.

One of my two 622s received the L6.15 update last night (the other one did not – guess that part of the house must be in a different zip code  .)

Anyway, just reporting that the L6.15 update did not address this particular issue.

Since my original posting I’ve spoken with several friends who are also 622 and 722 user’s and they all tell that they too lost customer support communications functionality after connecting their receivers to broadband ~ so, at least I’m not alone on this one…
