2 weeks w/ D*. Got some nasty winter weather heading our way tonight/tomorrow. Wife went to check Weather Channel for local radar and didn't find locals. What's the trick to getting local weather info on the The Weather Channel? She thinks it may have something to do with the way the installers setup our receivers as she said they entered zip codes of 11111.
Running 3 HD's; HD DVR w/ ethernet
Advice? Thank you.

The locals are only active on the SD channel right now, not the HD channel.
You can also press the active button on the remote to get local weather.

Thanks for the info. When I select "active" on the remote, the weather info is blank with no info.

You need to set it up the first time you use it.

Apologies ....really feeling like an idiot now. Don't see or know how to set this up. Nowhere on the interactive channel is a setup option. See five day forecast boxes which are blank and "what's hot" blank list. Damn zohan trailer is running over and over in bottom left hand corner.
Does the Zip need changed from 11111 or something else and somewhere else?

When you pressed the active button, did you give it a few minutes to load?
Heres info (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=140195) on the Weather channels local on the 8's. Remember, as of right now, the local on the 8's only works on the SD channel.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: Hit the ACTIVE button on the remote and then select the weather application. Once it loads select "My Cities" and at the bottom there's a "Change Home Zip" selection, that's where you change it.
Thank you Rad.

Don't worry about the zip that the installer put in, that entry is of no value. When you get to the active channel enter in your correct zip (and any others as additional cities you are interested in). The page is really slow to load, and the radar and forecast detail you will finally get is nothing to shout about and it is certainly nowhere near as good as the "weather on the 8s" that cable can provide. I suspect that most satellite subscribers who want on-demand detailed forecasts aren't happy with the active channel and jump over to their PCs for something better.

He's obviously confused. You can see from the picture in the bottom left corner that he's on the SD channel.

Nope, it was on the HD channel, but I agree, the HD logo is missing from the logo... not sure
... but it doesn't appear to be working right now. . .
