I just swapped out my H20-100 for an H21-100. When I went through the setup, I got a failure on satellite 103(a). I told it that I would fix later, called DirecTV and activated the receiver. I recently installed a SWM8. I checked the signal strength on sat 103(a). There were some transponders that were 0 others were in the 80-90s range. Is there any cause for concern? I seem to be getting all of my channels.

Also, is the ethernet port active? I did not see any menu options for setting it. Thanks.

This "sounds about right", until you find a newer software release, [which may come in a chat room].

Yeah, stupid H2x's look for a signal that isn't there ie 103a. It's a spotbeam bird hence the 0s. Not to worry.

Even when "it's there", it still fails during setup.

Lol, didn't even know that. Has been like this for ages now.

Thanks for the info. I did download the "latest" NR. I will make no mention of that which must not be spoken about.

Concerning the "failing" 103a. Something was changed on the beacon several months ago and for whatever reason, the software still hasn't been updated to reflect the changes. Interestingly enough though, the SL3 setup selection does have the changes. I've got the memo around here somewhere, just can't find it at the momement.

Sorry, don't remember which satellite it was failing on but both a H21-100 and H21-200 failed the initial satellite test, even after I had forced a software download to the current national release. But after I activated the boxes with D* they didn't have the failure anymore, this was with using a SWM8.

Sadly, no. Just the DVR guys get the benefit of the box "phoning home" to tell the mothership how crappy your signal levels are... :)

I don't see it staying that way for very long.
