View Full Version : Dragnet - Why the changes?
Been watching the new Dragnet on Sunday nights and was really enjoying it. Looks like they are trying to bring in fresh blood as they have introduced two new detectives over the past couple of weeks. Friday is starting to look more like a captain than a detective with all his underlings.
Just wondering what others thought about the changes - good or bad?

The Sunday after next will be the season finale, what a short season it was. Someone at the TiVo Forum mentioned the reason for the lady detective Joe was with last episode and a few weeks ago when Smith wasn't around . Apparently Embry was injured his ankle during the filming of some episodes so they gave him a smaller role in some episodes. Don't know how true it is but that's what I heard. The Australian detective that was on the last episode is/was one of the main characters in the CBS soap, As The Word Turns (my mom watches it and she recognized the accent).
Friday is really becoming more bossy as the series goes along, he keeps dictating orders. He still comes off as a tough cop wannabe to me, but I don't mind.

I heard the same story about Embry hurting his leg.....hopefully they do not remove his character.

Well, whatever they did it worked. I actually watched it all the way this past weekend. The HDTV and DD5.1 didn't hurt either :D

Actually, what I had heard was the Embry either sprained or broke his ankle while skateboarding, not while filming an episode.
That makes sense - they probably should have written it into the script but maybe that's why I'm not out in Hollywood
And that's why they only showed Ethan Embry from the waist up in this eppy; he must have had some kind of cast on his ankle.
I found out about his accident last month while reading futoncritic.com.
