DirecTV has scheduled an install for my new service in a couple of days. It will consist of 4 rooms (2 standard receivers and 2 DVR's).

As part of the free "standard installation", do they typically include the 2 cable runs required for each DVR, or do they include only one cable run to each receiver, and the second for each DVR considered a "custom install"?

If it is not part of the standard install, what is the typical charge for an extra cable run?

The standard install is for two runs to each DVR as long as there is not "wall fishing" or other time-consuming details involved.

Techs try to charge you sometimes....had that happen to me. Told me it wasnt in the work order. Had to tell him it was part of the standard install and he did it, after minutes of arguing.

DTV will try to get the techs to run that wire for free.
Nobody likes that issue..........The recorders have two tuners and each requires a wire.
The Single Wire Multiswitch (SWM) allows you to use one wire for both tuners.
Four boxes = four wires (or six).

Report how it goes.
