after snow last night i got to the point this morning where some signal came thru so i could watch some shows. Then it wanted to do a download so i figure why not. Now it's in a continuous loop where i cant even get to the screen to see if there is enough signal to watch my recorded shows

how do you stop this insanity? Oh and just now, i had left it on the screen asking me to reboot..and it turned the machine totally off..all lights dark. Whats up with that? I dont get why it just wont keep on trying.

Love that hdtivo still gets in OTA and i can watch the recorded shows! why cant hr20 be like this

That's rough that a software download happened when you were having signal problems because of snow. If you'd known the weather was going to continue to cause signal problems, you wouldn't have okayed the software download.

I don't know if a there is anyway to stop it trying to do that download. Perhaps unplugging it for 30 min might reset the flag that is making it try the download. Then you could let it boot, put it in standby, then you should be able to watch your pre-recorded shows.

well in fairness even if didnt ok it, it would do it anyway, right?

after all this time the guided setup finally worked but now the acquiring data blue screen is on the bottom of the screen. I can get to guide and all else i need to. Why is the acquiring data screen up then?

well was in the other room and came in and can confirm it downloads the update if you arent attending to the machine. up to 80% now

i HOPE it fixes the tuner 2 issue! I momentarily had good signal on it. :)
