Very good! Hopefully WMPT is in HD in the D.C. DMA as well, and WETA won't be far behind.

Cool. While I don't watch too often, I'm sure there are those who will greatly appreciate having this addition.

Nothing about MPT in HD on their web site. Just info on the DTV transition.

No MPT in the DC DMA. Hopefully WETA and MPT (one would assume we would get both) next week.

You get Baltimore locals in DC and don't see the HD MPT? That's odd... I'd think that you're on the same spot beam.

I haven't checked. Wonder which "feed" of MPT they are giving us. MPT is odd. I would much rather have WETA HD than MPT. Much of what MPT claims is HD isn't.

It is the same as the SD channel.

Are you saying we don't get MPT, or that WMPT (Ch22) is just not being offered in HD in the DC DMA? I know we get it in SD...

Not sure if that is good or not. Have to wait until they get an HD program on there. I get different results from different sources with MPT HD. The Comcast alignment doesn't seem to match OTA but that could just be them or me.

MPT used to be good with HD but they went cheap and they have been a disaster since.

I am refering to WMPT-HD in the DC DMA. One would assume since MPT falls in mutliple DMAs that it would be supplied to all of those DMAs.

One should never assume. DirecTV will only be providing one PBS staion in HD in each market, IIRC.

In the DC DMA, Maryland Public Television (MPT) is on WMPT-22. As of right now, it's not in HD. However, if you look in the guide data, the channel listing is showing as 22 WMPT (like my HD channels are displayed) versus 22 DC22 (as the SD channels are). FWIW, WETA (Virginia Public Television) is being displayed as 26 DC26.

I think there are two different issues with public television stations in many DMAs -- secondary PTV stations within the DMA, and PTV stations from overlapping/neighboring DMAs ("significantly-viewed stations," in DIRECTV-speak). For example, here in the D.C. market, WETA is the primary PTV station. WHUT is a secondary PTV station. And WMPT is from the neighboring Baltimore DMA (because Maryland Public Television, a statewide PTV network, has transmitters within the D.C. DMA).

Aren't the SD feeds going away at some point? In the case of overlap markets, I'd think it would make more sense for DIRECTV to offer the station from the neighboring DMA in HD as well, rather than having to maintain an SD feed simply to be able to force SD for the overlap market. OR can DIRECTV force an HD receiver to downscale to SD? Of course, I'd think it would still make more sense to just give both markets HD. But then, I don't work for DIRECTV...

FWIW, the DirecTV locals lookup is showing 22 as HD for Baltimore zips but no HD for 22 (or 26 for that matter) for DC zips.

I do not think Baltimore and DC are on the same spot beam transponder for HD. That could be a problem.

Atlanta channel 30 WPBA is hd this morning.

This is really surprising since WGTV is the "flagship" and also the one that Comcast has in HD  Ohwell, more HD is more HD!

Still no WITF (PBS HD) here in the Harrisburg/Lancaster, PA DMA.

Having WGTV in HD would be nice. It's definitely the one that I'd prefer.

Sweet. I'll have to check that out when I get home. Was assuming we were no where near ready yet.

Well, WVIZ is a step in the positive direction. But DirecTV still has a bit more work to do to earn this Dish customer's buisness. But that will help swing the balance.

Does anyone know if WGTV (Georgia Public Broadcasting) will be carried in HD for the Atlanta market? We have 2 PBS stations here (the other being WPBA, run by the Atlanta Public schools), but WGTV is the flagship of the statewide GPB network and is the "heavyweight" of the two stations, but ironically is the one not being carried by DirecTV in HD at this time. If they are only going to carry one of them, I'd rather it be WGTV.

I'm a little confused.... so WMPT HD is available for DirecTV subscribers in
Baltimore, but not in DC? Isn't there only one WMPT HD channel?
