What hardware is recommended for use to capture video clips? I'm looking to capture short segments or single frame shots, not entire shows.

prolly any video capture card to get the short or the still, then maybe adobe primire/after effects to modify/crop it.

I have all the software I need including Adobe Premiere, Pinnacle and Roxio. I would like to know what portable video capture devices folks are using and like. I'm running Vista 64 bit. What about Pinnacle Video Transfer?

Sorry, I can't help with the portable capture device (I use an ATI AIW card) but I do use Pinnacle and like it. It has a "frame grabber" utility to capture stills from video and it works fairly well.

I used Pinnacle a some years back, I had some old VHS tapes I wanted to save before they became completely unplayable.
I gave the card away a year or so ago as I no longer needed it though, it was just a standard TV card though.
