Have any of you installers encountered the new Field Service Request, where if a customer calls and wants to know where you are, the local office has to call them in 20 minutes or less and let them know when you will be at the customer's place. If you have encountered it, what do you think?

I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary but did get a fax about it and a few other things today.

I think it'll be awesome to have yet another call to try to answer while I am doing a balancing act trying to carry a Slimline twenty five feet up an extension ladder.

One of the other things the fax said was (I swear this is the truth.....wait for it) don't call the activation line to activate a receiver unless you have to.

I see the iceberg. My job is to arrange deck chairs. Yes, I did smash some lifeboats...why do you ask? When I find out who is ringing that bell I will make them stop and continue to arrange deck chairs. QC is important to me.

Several months AFTER I stopped taking installation work from DirectSatUSA , through Emerald Cable & Satellite of Baltimore, MD, I got calls requesting an ETA for jobs assigned to someone else using my tech number.

Even though I spent much time on hold...company phone to MASTEC in INDIA.....I got occasional calls requesting ETA to jobs assigned to other techs. They would not give a call back number or name.
"Hey Mr 109, where are you?"

Drooooooooooooooooooooool!

Ok. this is not aimed an any tech, nor directv, but your first lines comments reminded me of this.

All was dark and the sky was still
a blinding mist closing in
Unconcerned the young captain fills
His whiskey glass to the rim, to the rim

Like a crystal cathedral afloat on the tide
comes a mountain of ice on the course to collide
while passengers sleep thinking god's on their side

Terra Titanic You're lost to the sea
S.O.S. if you can
straight ahead lies your destiny
soon you'll sleep in the sand

Face to face the white giant, boat
sweet dreams turn cold, time is up
music plays, as the siren blow
the last boat had better luck, better luck

The rats have the sense to abandon the ship
as the captain adjusts his tuxedo a bit
with his glass raised up high as the ice water hits.

Terra Titanic You're lost to the sea
S.O.S. if you can
straight ahead lies your destiny
soon you'll sleep in the sand

Terra Titanic You're lost to the sea
S.O.S. if you can
straight ahead lies your destiny
soon you'll sleep in the sand
