One of the first anime characters American audiences ever saw is coming back to life.
Kids WB will launch a new version of "Astro Boy" for the 2003-04 season, the network announced Wednesday (April 30). The character's return to TV comes 40 years after the original, dubbed version of the Japanese cartoon first appeared in the United States.
It debuted on Japan's Fuji TV in April and will be imported to the United States later this year.

Niiza City in Saitama prefecture will register "Tetsuwan Atom" as an actual resident of the city on April 7th, 2003. This is the date of his "birth" in the manga by Osamu Tezuka. Niiza City is going to prepare a special registration form with a printed picture of Atom's face. The address to be written in the form will have the address of the Tezuka Production Company: 4-4-14, Nobidome, Niiza-shi, and the "head of the household" is Professor Ochanomizu.
