View Full Version : How can I tell if a SL5 or SL3 dish was installed.
What's the best way to tell if your dish is am SL5 or SL3 type of dish. Note it's way up on an icy roof so I"m not going up there to check it out close.

SL5 has "three" LNBs, while a SL3 has only one

Easier than going up on an icy roof is to look at your signal strength. If you have an SL3, you will not be getting signals on sats 110 and 119.

You can also see if it's 'tilted' 5 is tilted, 3 95% of the time is not tilted.

The 3 is tilted, just not as much as the 5. Only locations at 101 W longitude would have very little tilt.

Tilt will be the same for the 3 or 5 LNB. While the three might be a bit harder to see, it would be the same, since the 99-103 "tilt" is the exact same degree as the 101-119.
It has nothing to do with the dish, but your location on earth relative to the SATs in orbit.
